"Baby Chickens and Piggies"

Cale visited some "baby chickens and piggies" as he calls them on Tuesday.  He was in heaven!  I'm trying to talk my mom into getting a couple chicks and maybe a pig...or even a cow so when Cale goes to the farm, he'll have some animals to play with.
So far the answer has been consistently "no".

4 of the pictures in the collage were taken by Cale...the back ground picture and 3 of them on the 1st line.
Like I've said...he's a professional!

Here are my 2 favorite pictures:

Taking appointments for senior picture photo-shoots in 2030

Cale and I went on a walk Friday evening...he brought his camera along and took 57 pictures!  He was obsessed with trees, sticks and flowers...oh, and a liquor bottle, cigarette butt and empty pack of smokes.  Quite the artistic eye!  The purple paw print reminded him of a clue (from Blue's Clues).

Blank Park Zoo...what a day!

For Mother’s day Cale, my mom and I visited Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines. I was really impressed with the zoo…we spend over 5 hours there. Cale loved it…but he loves being outside, animals and exploring. We rode the train 3 times! Yes….3 times…mainly because he really liked going through the tunnel. After the 3rd time he said, “again?”…we said, “you already rode it 3 times”…he said, “yea…four” as he held up 4 fingers. We saw everything from snakes and exotic birds to camels, monkeys, lions, giraffes and penguins.

Happy Day!

On May 5th we celebrated Cale’s 3rd birthday!  The celebrating actually started on Friday the 4th when Chad and I surprised Cale at daycare after lunch with some Scratch cupcakes…he was so excited to see us (well, maybe it was the cupcakes).  After the cupcakes were gone, I took him home and couldn’t wait for him to see the decorations.  I got the video camera ready and as soon as he walked in the door he said, “oooohhhhh wooooow”.  When asked what was his favorite part he couldn’t decide between the balloons or streamers hanging down from his bedroom door (which, he said was like a car wash).

Saturday started off with stopping at 2 farmer’s markets where we saw a lot of puppies and fun things to stop and look at.  I asked Cale where he wanted to go for lunch…Panera or Barn Happy…he thought about it for a second and said, “barn hoppy for moothies” (smoothies).  Barn Happy was packed but we were able to get lunch and smoothies.  Kris (the owner) came over to see how we were…Cale told her he was 3 today.  She asked if he liked to dance…of course he does!  She announced to everyone that Cale’s birthday was today and he was 3-years old.  Then the loud birthday music started and Cale got to dance with Kris all around the store.  You should have seen his face…he couldn’t stop smiling.  He was in heaven…dancing with a pretty girl and being the center of attention.  He even got a chocolate tractor sucker.  From then on out he referred to his birthday as “HAPPY DAY”.  After Barn Happy we headed to the park because he loves going down the slides and riding the horses that go around in a circle.  By this point he was wore out and ready for snoozie.

Around 6:00 the party continued when daddy, uncle Ryan and grandma came over.  The theme this year was Blue’s Clues.  We had pizza, opened presents (one was hidden and he had to look for the blue paw prints (clues) to find the last present), had cake and ice-cream and finally put together all of his cool gifts.

A few funny things from the day:
  • Before he opened presents he handed them out to everyone…he wanted us to have something to open.  Even Puppy and Penguin got a present!
  • We all had to wear a Blue’s Clue party hat…Cale was even wearing his the next day to Starbucks.
  • He blew out the candles before we could take a picture so we had to relight them.  The 2nd time he did a lot more spitting than blowing.
  • Uncle Ryan got him a “grow your own frog” kit…and yes, it’s a real frog.  We are interested to see the frog because apparently it will have whiskers.
  • He slowly opened only 1 present at the time and then wanted to play with it…we had to really push him to keep going.
Cale was in heaven the entire day….I honestly believe I’ve never seen him so happy.
